Inspiration Behind This Project

In February, 2007, Chris Gavora, a GHS student and baseball player tragically lost his life in a batting cage accident at the GHS batting cages on Opening Day after being struck by a line drive. In July 2007, Mike Coolbaugh, then a coach in the Colorado Rockies organization, tragically lost his life after being struck by a line drive during a game.

  • Will provide a safe, year-round workout facility for all GHS baseball teams.
  • Pitchers, catchers and hitters will have a place to work in any weather conditions.
  • Includes four side-by-side batting cages made of heavy duty netting, suspended by cables that can be raised to the ceiling, allowing room for team drills.
  • Floor will be covered in foam backed aritificial turf.
  • A no-frills facility to keep costs down. Other than a small umpire’s dressing room and restroom, all other square footage is dedicated to baseball.
  • Facility is adjacent to the GHS baseball field, with existing parking available.
